This 747SP was actually manufactured for Braniff of Texas. But that airline did not take delivery and so it initially went with the US-registration N1301E to CAAC, of which in 1988 Air China was developed. Ten years later, it was purchased by an Australian leasing company and supposedly hasnt flown since.
