About the C-5 Galaxy:The C-5 Galaxy is one of the world's largest aircraft and is as long as a football field and as high as a six-story building.
It was designed to provide strategic airlift for deployment and supply of combat and support forces. The C-5 can carry unusually large and heavy cargo for intercontinental ranges at jet speeds. It is powered by four turbofan engines and is the only aircraft that is capable of transporting any Army's combat equipment including fully equipped troops, 74-ton mobile scissors bridges, tanks and helicopters. With its massive payload capability, the C-5 has been involved in many historic airlift missions and has contributed tremendous efforts to many important humanitarian operations.
