American Airlines DC-6B "Flagship Oklahoma City" ~N90757 (1:200) by Hobby Master Diecast Airplanes
Item Number: HL5007
The Douglas DC-6B first flew on February 10, 1951 with its first scheduled passenger flight on April 11, 1951 with United Airlines. The DC-6 might have had the same wingspan as the DC-4 but that is all. The DC-6 fuselage was longer and stronger and pressurized.
The more powerful engines used a 3-bladed propeller capable of reversing pitch for braking. The DC-6B was the most successful of all the DC series of aircraft with the last of the 288 produced being delivered on November 17, 1958.
American Airlines DC-6B N90757 'Flagship Oklahoma' was MSN 43269 and was delivered on May 18, 1951. The name 'Flagship Oklahoma' previously belonged to an AAL DC-3 N16019 and would later become the name for an N90757. A little time later the name became 'Flagship Oklahoma City'. The aircraft served with the airline until April 1964 when it was leased to Hawaiian Airlines from until September 1966. In 1968 the aircraft was sold to Yemen Airways and registered as 4W-ABD. In 1971 it was withdrawn from use and eventually scrapped.
