Apollo 11 is one of the most famous space missions of all time. It was this specific spaceflight that put man on the Moon for the first time more than 40 years ago. The momentous event occurred on July 20, 1969 as millions of TV viewers around the world watched with anticipation. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin Jr were the two American astronauts to walk on the lunar soil of the southern Sea of Tranquility. They arrived aboard the Lunar Module (LM) that had been christened Eagle in honor of the bald eagle, the national bird of the USA. Eagle spent a total of 21.5 hours on the Moon�s �magnificently desolate� surface, before it then whisked them back to rendezvous with the Columbia Command/Service Module (CSM) that was orbiting above in preparation for their return to Earth.

Dragon�s Space Collection had previously produced a terrifically detailed 1/72 scale model of the LM connected to the CSM, but now things have got even better! How? Because for the first time, the Lunar Module is being offered in 1/48 scale. This larger scale permits even more detail to be incorporated into the miniature Apollo 11 spacecraft. Not only that, but the LM comes as a separate item, offering greater scope for it to be set in a lunar diorama scene. Alternatively, the model works extremely well as a stand alone desktop decoration. With the touchdown of this new 1/48 scale LM from Dragon, the Eagle has well and truly landed!
