The British Camel was credited with destroying more enemy aircraft (1,294) than any other fighter plane of WWI. Although the Camel was responsive and maneuverable, it was tricky to fly because most of the weight was centrally located. One problem of the F-1's was that its rotary engine lost power at higher altitudes, thus reducing performance. The Camel had engines ranging from 110 hp to 150 hp.
