Item Number: AJ2TE
The collectable model Grumman J2F-2 Duck represents a twin-engine amphibious aircraft used by the Army Air Forces, Navy and Coast Guard in roles ranging from rescue to aerial mapping. Painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail, this 1/30 scale model J2F-2 Duck makes a great gift for any aviation enthusiast or history buff.
The J2F was biplane with a large central float which also housed the retractable main landing gear. It had strut-mounted stabilizer floats beneath each lower wing. Crews of two or three were carried in tandem cockpits, forward for the pilot and rear for an observer with room for a radio operator if required. It had a cabin in the fuselage for two passengers or a stretcher.
Powered by an R-1820 radial engine of 790 horsepower, the J2F-2 Duck was used by the U.S. Marine Corps and was equipped with underwing bombs racks as well as machine guns.
As the OA-12, the F2F duck served as an air/sea rescue craft for the U.S. Air Force.
