Item Number: P-693Air Corps Balloon Observer Wings. This is a very well made three inch with pin back replica in Sterling Silver. This wing was established as the 1920 Balloon Observer and then on Feb. 20, 1940 it was designated as the Balloon Pilot. The wing was awarded to a balloon pilot who was also qualified as a sharpshooter or expert aerial gunner, certified for conducting observation duties, assigned as an aircraft observer while a member in a balloon combat crew or a graduate of the AAF Tactical School with at least six years as a rated pilot.
