The PBM Mariner played an important role for the United States Navy during World War II. This versatile flying boat was used for air/sea rescue of downed aviators, assault patrols, bombing and antisubmarine patrol. Mariners are credited with sinking at least 10 submarines throughout the war. This beautiful print depicts a PBM-3D Mariner in the markings of the plane flown by the VPB-216 Squadron, Number 5 airplane flown by PPC Lt. Jim Wood. This may have been the only Mariner painted with a sharks mouth livery.Mark Karvon images are printed on Epson Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper using Epson Ultrachrome professional archival inks.
